 PHOTOGRAPHIC STUDY: This photograph shot by Kristine Weilbacker Hanson between 2003 and 2006 is one of a series documenting abandoned buildings on the North Princeton Development Center site. Ms. Hanson’s photographs will be on view at the D&R Greenway Land Trust’s Johnson Education Center, 1 Preservation Place (off Rosedale Road), this Saturday, October 13, from 1 to 3 p.m. The formerly abandoned site has been bought by Montgomery Township. |
Since 2003, Montgomery resident Kristine Weilbacker Hanson has been photographing the North Princeton Development Center (NPDC), located between adjoining Skillman Road and Burnt Hill Road.
Drawn to the abandoned buildings as to a ghost town, she finds a “sense of beauty and majesty” in what once served as a model village for the treatment of epilepsy.
There were so many Princeton-area stakeholders at the Princeton Public Library Saturday morning, that, for just a few hours, it looked like all the major town players had put their differences aside to come together to address the pressing issues facing the community.
On Thursday, October 25, Jim Trelease, author of The Read-Aloud Handbook, will spend the best part of the day in Princeton talking to parents, teachers, and library patrons about the importance of reading aloud to children for their future school success.
When Princeton resident and Princeton High School senior Alex Bozich heard about Nike’s pledge to recycle old athletic shoes and turn them into new surfaces for five basketball courts in New Orleans, he jumped at the chance to contribute.
